I can't believe I got sick just in time for Thanksgiving! Well, yes, I guess I can believe it. Thats how it usually goes. And to top it off, it's my husbands birthday today too! Happy Birthday, Honey!! Stupid colds!

Oh, well. I have so many things to be thankful for. My awesome husband of 33 years, my daughter and son who I couldn't be more proud of,and my son in law and daughter in law,and my 4 sweet grandkids. And then there are my super sisters and their families, my great Dad and my in laws . Yes, i am blessed!
Not a thing to complain about------except this stupid cold!

I Voted! And Halloween Pupcakes and a Hairy Spider

My daughter and I made up these t-shirts real quick last nite to wear today. Fast, fun and ----yes, I voted!

Here are some pupcakes (as my middle grandaughter calls them) that the kids made. As you can see, they had a few pieces of candy stolen from them before I could snap some pictures!! A few candy corn teeth were missing among other things!

This was a tarantula that we found in our driveway when we got home the other night. He was pretty good sized. He didn't want anything to do with us and really didn't want his picture taken.

Had another great weekend. Went to a Cigar & Stout thingie @ our local cigar bar. Very nice time hanging out with some good friends. Also did some cleaning out. I love it when I can manage to get that kind of stuff done! threw out a bunch of junk this weekend!! Yay!!

Also went to see a movie. I know, I know, me and my husband are movie junkies! Almost every weekend we go see one. It's one of our THINGS we do.

Last nite we took our 2 oldest grandkids to K-Mart and played in the Halloween isles. Had a blast! Bought them some halloween stuff.

I Love Mexican Food!

I really do love mexican food! Not real spicey, just a little. Although my husband can eat some pretty hot and spicey stuff, I can not. I know I should have taken a picture of this before we dug into it, but I was REALLY hungry at the time!!
This is a casserole I make sometimes when I have the right leftovers. Or sometimes when I don't -- just cause.

I kind of made it up and make it a little different everytime.
I put whatever kind of leftover meat I have ( this was non-leftover hamburger). But sometimes I use pork tenderloin or chicken. Beans - homemade or canned, whole pinto or refried. Corn tortillas torn into smaller pieces. I have added other ingredients at times,(chipotle peppers, small can of chopped green chilis, tomatoes,cilantro). I top it with a can of Hatch's green chili
sauce with pork. And I bake it at about 450 till it gets cooked thru and hot. Then I add some cheddar cheese and bake till melted. Ummm, I love it!!

You get the idea though. It's one of those dishes that you put however much of whatever sounds good in it and top it with the green chili sauce and cheese and it always turns out great!

so anyway--- thats what we ate this past weekend.

We went to see the movie "Appaloosa" yesturday. It was a very good movie. I love going to the movies. I really do like the whole thing -movie, popcorn, diet coke. As long as I don't get the noisiest person in the place next to me -- I'm good to go!!

I am having a very relaxing weekend and I love it!! Friday nite we stayed out a little late so I was tired Saturday. the weather turned colder this weekend, so it was a perfect day to just lounge, and lounge I did!! Took a nap even!!! Went to a movie -- Body of Lies, Very good movie.
Heated up leftovers. Oh yes, I was VERY lazy yesturday!! I plan on doing the same thing today!! May go see "Apaloosa". I may even order pizza tonite! Something about the weather turning to fall makes me feel like this.

Back From Vacation

Well, we are back from vacation. Had a great time! We went to Colorado for a Motorcycle run. the weather was so awesome! It rained all one day, which I loved!!! But the rest of the time it was just perfect for riding. Good times with good friends!!

Then it was off to West Texas to visit with family. Had a great time there too. Ate too much and all the wrong things, but oh well!! It was worth it!!!

I am so behind on posting pictures. I will try to get a few up today.

Here are some pictures of some of the cool things I found on my vacation.

We found the coolest book store in Colorado. They had alot of antique books and not so antique books, all used and all different catagories. This is the childrens book I got and it has such adorable illustrations!!

And some antique lace I found at an antique store in Texas.

And I am so crazy about my Betsy Johnson bag! It is really a diaper bag, but who cares!! It is just the cutest!! I carried my magazines and knitting, etc. in it for the rest of our trip. I am a succer for Betsy J0hnson things!!

Ready For Monday?

Don't know if I am ready for Monday. We had a great weekend and I don't think I am ready to go back to work. I scheduled too many things for tomorrow! Guess I'll have to cancel something. Too bad I can't cancel what I would really like to cancel, the work related one!!! Oh well! Ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

Went to see Tropic Thunder. I loved it! So funny!! I even got a couple of things made and listed on my Etsy shop! How 'bout that!? Went to a 50's party last nite. We went to one of our favorite restaurants in town, Sugarbrook for breakfast this morning. Every sunday my husband and I split an order of their Bananas Foster French Toast!! It is one of the very yummiest things in the world! Very rich!!!
Then later in the day we went back and my husband got a banana cream pie and I got a chocolate mocha coffee cake!! Oh, yes! I felt like a pig for sure!!! You know once in awhile you just have to do that!! So--- guess I'll be working real hard at the gym in the morning, trying to burn it all off!
It was a busy but fun weekend.

Had a good weekend. Not too exciting, but fun. Nice Italian dinner Friday nite. Pizza and the UFC at my daughter and son in law's Sat. nite. A movie (The new Mummy one) and got some crafting done. Finally got some of my old grapevine wire in and got a couple of nests made and some eggs felted. So I have one little nest pincushion done and ready to list on Etsy. I'm gonna try to get it listed this afternoon, and maybe another one finished and listed if I'm lucky!
I also got my button card packaged up and ready to mail today for the Vintage Button Card Swap.
I got a few other little crafts worked on.
I also watched my two youngest grandkiddos last nite!

Oh, yes! and I received my Itty Bitty House Book on Sat.!!!! How adorable it is! Bridget did such a beautiful job putting them together and the talented people who took part in this swap are amazing!!

A Couple Of Random Pics

Just thought I would share a couple of random pictures I came across. The first one is of a small gourd that my Dad made for me along time ago. I just love it.




And this is a very old Indian doll that was actually in with a bunch of old dolls that my grandmother gave me when I was young. They were all pretty old then, so now, they are REALLY old!! But this little Indian was always one of my favorites. I don't know anything about him. If anyone out there does, please let me know. Several of the old dolls have started coming apart. I just read the other day in the newest Mary Janes Farm magazine that there is an actual doll hospital in Michigan. The website is www.dollhospital.com. I haven't looked it up yet. But, I'm hoping to find out some info about fixing up some of these beautiful dolls. It is mostly just arms and legs and heads coming off due to old worn out bands. so---- if I ever get them mended, I will post some pics.

Happy 4th of July week!
Hope everyone has a blast this weekend. I plan on it! We may go out boating this weekend with some friends. Then Saturday my daughter and son in law will have the UFC fights at their house. My sister will be here too. So it should be a good time.

We went to Flagstaff, Arizona last weekend to cool off a bit! It is sooooo hot here now! summer finally hit! It's been about 115 degrees the last few days, forcast for this Sunday is 118!! Oh yea! It's more than hot!! It's COOKIN!!
Flagstaff was nice though! We went downtown and walked around. Went into some antique shops and thrift stores!! Found a few things. Will post pics later.

A Happy Father's Day Weekend

Hope everyone had a great Father's Day weekend! We did! On Father's Day we got together with all the kids and grandkids at my daughter's house and my son in law bbq'd hamburgers and hot dogs. We had some yummy peppers and chicken wrapped in bacon!! And a bunch of snacks and then chocolate cake and banana pie!!! Oh yea, I am feeling like quite the huge pig today!! I didn't hold back one little bit!! It was all sooooo good! The grandkids had a great time playing in the water and on the slip and slide. Fun! fun!

Sunday, Sunday

Well, it is Sunday. My man is getting back today from a motorcycle ride he went on with a bunch of his buddies. I missed him alot, but have to admit it is nice sometimes to have the house to myself and watch all the chick flicks.

Had a nice weekend. Friday I received my giveaway package from Cupcake DD!! How fun! So after that great start, I eent to see my oldest grandaughter do her cheers after her cheerleading camp she went to. she was so cute!! She is 7 and the highschool cheerleaders put on a little camp for the younger girls. She just had a blast!
Then I went out to eat mexican food with my daughter and son in law and their kids.
Friday nite my daughter and I and the oldest grandaughter got burgers and fries and got all the craft stuff out and played for most of the evening.

Saturday morning we went garage saleing.
Didn't find much. got an old record album book full of old albums. So I am intending on altering it. I have alway wanted to alter one of those. So I am excited about finding that! And I got an old Edgar Alan Poe book. I'm not really into his stuff but it was too good to pass up and I'll find something to do with it!!

And I watched 6 chick flicks!! Yes, 6!!


But now I am ready to see my man!!

Wow! I am so happy to have received my screen from Karla & Beth's Birds & Bonnets Swap!! The pages are sooooooo pretty! What an awesome job these girls did! And I couldn't believe how fast Karla & Beth got them mailed out!! They did such a beautiful job of selecting which ones to put with which and putting them all together!! This was really such a fun swap and the first of this type for me.

We went to a wedding reception for our friends who got married at Viva Las Vegas. Ok, so the reception was rockabilly themed to go along with the VLV wedding theme. So, since our dresses for the wedding and trim on the guys jackets were leopard, and the reception was done in red,white and leopard, (which by the way was just so much fun!), I just had to wrap the presents to match.

I was really happy with the way they turned out.

It's Been Awhile!

Wow! It's been awhile since i have posted. Well, that's probably because I haven't really had anything exciting to post about.

Had a great Memorial weekend! Went to see Indiana Jones movie. Very good. Had some friends over to watch the UFC. Fun! Ate too much junk food! Went to some friends house on Sunday and ate more junk food!! Oh well, I did go back to the gym this morning. Really I did!

I have been working on my houses for the Itty Bitty House swap. I am getting close to finishing.

My Cool Early Mother's Day Gift!

Isn't this the coolest thing? My darling daughter gave it to me for Mother's Day -----early!! Lucky me!!! And the yarn inside is some that she handspun for me!!

I am assuming that it used to be used for string for packaging! Whatever, I absolutely LOVE it!!








OK, so I finished my pages for Karla & Beth's Birds & Bonnets Swap. I was pretty happy with some of them. But I look at other peoples collage work and I feel I need to work on some techniques.Ther is so much talent out there!!
It is so much fun though.
Any way, here they are. I sent them off this morning.

Got started on my house for the Itty Bitty House Swap the other day. This is going to be fun too!!
Then I really have to stop for awhile!! Take a break from the fun stuff and maybe get some house work done. One of these days maybe I will actually get my craft room organized!! Ha!!
I 've said that before a few times, haven't I?

Itty Bitty House Book Swap

I joined another swap. this one looks like so much fun! Callieflowergirl is putting it on. Isn't the little house soooo cute, don't you think?! I think it will be alot of fun!

I am just about finished with my Vintage Birds and Bonnets swap creations! That has been fun too!

I am so looking forward to a weekend at home. We have been gone for the last two weekends. and we may be going away next weekend also!! Fun, but I am getting very behind in everything.

New Banner

OK-- I just love the free banners that Counting Your Blessings has!! They are sooooo pretty! and just perfect for people like me who are not too smart on computers! As you can see, I have used a free banner and still can't get it to work right on my blog!! Ok, so I tried to use a different template and then I lost a bunch of other things. So---- I 'm going to settle for the banner to be off center for now!! Good enough for me!! I'll work on it later. But anyway----- if you have seen her banners, aren't they just so pretty? Had a great weekend. My husband and I went with some friends to Yuma, AZ to a motorcycle run that we go to every year. Had a really fun and relaxing weekend hanging out with great friends! then came home and watched the UFC replay. Oh yes! My guy, George St. Pierre won his fight!! He was awesome as usual!! Yay, George!!

My Sweet Little Nest Is So Sweet

I received my Sweet Little Nest package and is it ever sweet!!
Vanessa did such a beautiful job on everything! I was so spoiled! How lucky was I to receive such awesomeness! The box she made is just gorgeous with such pretty fabric and embellishments. And the liittle tag with the nest embroidered on it is so me! There are so many little details on the nest that I could have taken a hundred pictures to show them all off! Then the bird with all the beadwork and the sweet beaded crown!! She really went all out! I just love it so much!! Thanks, Vanessa!!!


We are having my kids and grandkids over tonite for a belated birthday party for my son and son in law who both had birthdays last week. My son ( my youngest) turned 30! Hard to believe!! So we are having mexican food. And then strawberry shortcake! That's what they requested. So off to the store I go! Maybe I should get some margarita makings too!!

Sweet Little Nest Swap Done

Well, the Sweet Little nest Swap is all done now. My partner received mine so here are some pics of what I sent her. I hand twisted one of my little nests and embellished it up a bit with some off white hand felted eggs. Also covered and embellished the little box for it so it wouldn't get beat up travelling.

I had a great weekend. My oldest sister came to see me! We had a really good time visiting and just catching up. Had all my kiddos over one nite for enchiladas. I am not ready for Monday!

Here is the beautiful box I received from my swap partner Sarah in the Sweetheart Box Swap. Isn't it pretty? And look at all the great things she put in it! So pretty! Can't wait to use everything!

And look at all the cool old vintage buttons I got from Charming Designs http://lauriescharmingdesigns.blogspot.com/. I am a button collector big time, but I have to admit that I love the roses she painted on the envelope the best!! If you have not visited her blog, you most assuredly should. I really love seeing her new creations. Her little birdies are just the cutest!!

This is my first weaving that I am proud to show off. I kept the edges straight finally! Thinking of making a purse out of this one. I just love the shades of green in this hand spun yarn. Wish it showed up better in the picture.

And my little grandaughter fell asleep clutching these flowers! Precious! Wish you could see it better, she is wearing an adorable little top that my daughter made for her out of a vintage pillowcase in the the prettiest pale pink! I'll have to take some more pics of that later and post.
